I was pretty disappointed in going to galleries just going passed things and not being really effected and things that you don't engage in. So Ive used devices like toys and pets and people have this connection with I suppose hopefully what I am trying to do
Is for people to come away and think about spires for me every horizon has spires, totally subliminal on the landscape so I looked into what all that was about. So I researched into how it changed from Stone Circles and a Matriarchal system into the Patriachal and spires. From what I am understanding at the moment is its about hunting and Agriculture. Back in the days this country was mostly forest and the best time for hunting was a Full Moon so we worshipped Diana the Moon Goddess, The Huntress and as we switched over to Agriculture the Sun became more important, the Male energy.
This one is a Cherubim, taken literally from the Old Testament I researched Cherubim.
This design is Syrian (FIG: Blue Cherub), pretty much 5,0000 years old, this is Solar powered representing the Male energies, and then it went through a Judeao phase and it gets very strange. Theres Ezekials vision of Cherubs which were quite terrifiying to behold, they are not these cute little Victorian things that you get now. They had 6 pairs of wings, four faces their feet were on fire, quite terrifying.
So I tried to start to visualise these things they were talking about and understanding the limits of language of the time and research and create these Cherubims.
So from here I threw myself into the Old Testament, read the bible a few times but I am not really getting it as the good book, I dont find it a good book. I can accept God in that it's a mutually shared abstract concept in the same way that money is, but I dont get on with him. I find it totalitarian,homophobic,genocidal.
