A sample is anything from a section of a song to a one brass hit. It’s up to you what you do with it, morph it into something that it wasn’t in the beginning. ROSS.

I found a lot of creative musicians in the five cities, all using music and technology in groundbreaking ways.
Sample/Loop chapter explores these ideas; John Cage once said "there is no such thing as silence, something is always happening that makes a sound".
Any sound can be captured, utilised in a variety of ways.

The light sequence (an echo of peeps work in Layer 4) reminded me of writing with light, this train of thought is similar to synethesia, where sound can be seen in the form of colour. This was taken at Ross' night called Bop @ The Love Apple. The camera I had has a night function filter where it slows down movement and opens the aperture to it's maximum. While I was listening to the beats I used the camera to "see the sound". Wassily Kandinsky would have loved the digital age.
